The Pat Pi Bucket Bag

This is the start of The Pat Pi Bucket Bag. Will need twice as much yarn!

Rhinog Trying it on for size! It could be a Snout Warmer for Dogs!

A 3D version of something that will be flat!

Close up

It is called the Pat Pi Bucket Bag because it was PatVic who whipped up the first one, based on an idea between her and Carol. Pi because the circular increasing for the base is based on Pi, c'mon, y'know, pi=3.14 etc, or is it 2.14??!! All you mathematicians and followers of Elizabeth Zimmerman will know what I'm on about. Honest. Bucket Bag because it's gonna be big, like a bucket! All else will follow!!

Thursday Afternoon in the Garden

This is the first crop of potatoes for this year! I can't remember the variety. We have already steamed two each and eaten them with lots of butter. Brilliant meal.

Close up of the Parsnips. They are growing in a Recycling bin! No quite ready to eat yet!

The Potato Flower

Old Man Ted Soseges - full name - 'Ted Soseges, Dog of Mystery, Cos He's All in Black, Y'know!' Not quite so young and spritely at 14 and a half, but still full of soseges attitude!

My first Mason Dixon Cloth, started and completed yesterday!

Can't remember the exact name for this one, but it's off Raverly. Made with Turkish 50% Bamboo & 50% cotton.

Woolfest and Knitting

Monday Morning again, comes round so quick!

I've finally and begrudgingly accepted the fact that I can't go to the Woolfest again this year. Boo Hoo! And when I've been offered to work on the door, I'm really sulking! Things happen for a reason though. I'm still half tempted to get up early on the Saturday (as long as HobbitKeeper isn't working and drive up there Saturday morning. But then there is the question of his 40th which he says he's not bothered about and the astronomical cost of diesel, plus spending money..... I really can't believe the cost of diesel and the increase in food prices. And the Government seem to be doing nothing proactive about bringing cost down. We're economising already. Trips out in the car have become non-exisitant, as have trips to the pub!

Next month I'm going to start the home brew up again, best get some gaviscon in then.......

On Ravelry I've joined the 'Dishcloth a Week KAL', hopefully produce the first one this week and see how it goes. Also need to look up the pattern for the 'Mittens a month' one as well. I'm slowly knitting my first particular kitchen item that I've not made before - all very secret as it's for a Swap. It took a few goes to get it right and a trip to the potato bed but it seems to be going ok so far now.......

Baby Showers and Swaps

Well, the work seems to be coming in at the moment, still got some spare days through June and very little for July as yet. Think I might be able to make ends meet at the end of the month!

I've been busy, as ever with my knitting. Knit Chicks had a Baby Shower on Monday, I did two Perfect Baby Bibs and three mittens - still need to do the fourth!

I've sent off my first Swap Parcel. I hope my Spoilee likes it. I dyed the yarn but would've preferred a more purple colour than red. Never mind.

I've started work on my next Swap, needs a bit of tinkering with but am quite looking forward to doing it as the projects I've decided to do are things I've not made before....

References and Knitting

Another day and the bloomin' Agency still haven't got my references, so I'm still not working and the bills ain't gonna be paid this month, so a big 'Cheers' to my referees or to whoever is holding the process up! Although I've got my fingers crossed that someone in particular will come through for me today!

The sooner I start working again the better, I'm starting to crumble round the edges with the worry.

Went to the Knitting Group yesterday. A good morning well spent! I'm making a bag for a 'spoilee' at the moment although I'm convinced it's not the right colour - re-dyeing will resolve that hopefully! Need to sort out patterns for another spoilee, but can't at present say anything more as it may give the game away and ruin the surprise!

Even planning my knitting or doing anything knitting related is becoming erratic and non-focused due to the worry of not earning! Chuffinell!

Dish/Face Cloths

This is my first ever dishcloth!! Ta-da! It was tricky to start off with as I'm out of practice with DPN's. The air was blue when I kept dropping the damn things, but it paid off!

I would do this again, hopefully without the mini 'volcano' in the middle, which I'm hoping might disappear once it's wet!

I got the pattern from Ravelry rainyk.com or ravelry.com
In fact they are all from the same place. I did the Summer Sun one next, then the Tea Pot one. All very enjoyable - I think Dish/face cloths are a thing I shall be doing quite frequently!

Week Catch up!

Wow, lots of things have happened since I was last here! So here's a quick run down!

The Chickens arrived last Thursday, they've since been named - Roast, Radar, Bertha, Guess and What! And I love them to bits!

Still haven't started working - the agency is still waithing for my references - get a move on, you know who you are - you're loosing me money!

I've finished the baggy trap bag, also finished a short row scarf in Noro Kureyon, and today have finished my first dish cloth - and it was a circular on on 4 dpn's!!

Going to start another dishcloth, think I'm going to like doing them!

Have signed up for my first swap on Ravelry - am soooo excited!

Things aren't going well at all for my sister and her boy, but can't go into detail here - it's a far sensitive matter.

Been dyeing lots of yarn.

Pictures and patterns to follow!

Recycled Sari Silk Bag

My next project is a recycled sari silk bag. I started it yesterday and have got cracking with it. It does seem to grow quickly, but then again I've spent a couple of hours doing it. Am hoping to get out in the garden and do a couple of hours before I pick up HobbitKeeper, then if it's still nice out after I'll be back out there!

Each piece has been made from a seperate skein and look quite different. I like them both but I'm not sure if they are too different to work together. Bottom line is that they will still be used for the same bag hahaha! The colours are absolutely fantastic! I'd definitley recommend this type of yarn.

Pictures and Pattern to follow when completed!

Have finshed the scarf. I finished it yesterday at Knit Chicks. I got to the point that I didn't think it would end - seemed to go on for ever!
The Pattern
Yarn - DK/Aran
Needles - 5mm
100g - 142 yards
Colour - Hand Dyed by Me!
Cast On 24 Stitches
Row 1 - k10, k2tog, place marker, k2tog, k10
Row 2 - all even rows - knit
Continue as above until there are 6 stitches either side of the marker, on the Return Row (Row 12), cast on 6 stitches then knit to end. Next Row (Row 1) - Cast on 6 stitches, work as Row 1.
The Scarf can be as long as short as you want. The squares can be bigger - or even smaller - as desired. The key is to always cast on an even amount of stitches.
It's good for TV Knitting, or when you want to do nearly mindless knitting with a small amount of concentration, with the added bonus of Instant Gratifacation - well after a couple of hours!! Enjoy!!

Sunday Morning and LaLa Land is still inhabited

I started the Skinny scarf as sort of planned last night. I made the pattern up. It's a very simple one and I don't labour under the delusion that I am the first to do such a scarf! I took myself into the front room and put the Idiot Box on. After watching Ghost Whisperer, Most Haunted and The Wyvern Mystery, this is what I ended up with.
I'm quite pleased with it so far, hopefully get it finished by the end of Knit Chicks tomorrow.
I'll post the finished item and pattern when it's all done.
I need to spend more time working out how this site works cos it's driving me fecking nuts working out how to place the images where I want them to be. One image is fine, the second just wants to sit next to the first. Getting attitude from such things on a Sunday is Not Good.
Am awaiting HobbitKeeper to come home.
